Eduardo and his secretary gazed at each other. Though several years his junior and married, she shot him a conspiratorial wink. He rewarded her with a smoldering glance.

Not that he planned it that way. He tried acting with discretion, but rationalized common sense didn’t always prevail. Perhaps blistering heat played a part or maybe a moment of passion or a combination of all three. That hot spring day, he invited his provocative, busty secretary to lunch. Scorching eye contact. Her movements and suggestive talk, when she touched him, drove him wild.

They never made it to the restaurant. In the heat of the moment, they pulled into the downtown Miami parking lot of Mercy Hospital on Bayshore Drive. By the time he was tearing off her clothes in the car, he knew they’d never make it to a hotel room.

Suddenly, a booming metallic voice blared. Eduardo jumped.

“Get out of the car. Get out of the car now, with your hands up.”

In a rush to retrieve his slacks, he twisted his limbs into a perfect pretzel and groaned, while his hand raked the floor, but his pants eluded him.

Again the earsplitting voice commanded, “Get out of the car, now!”

Eduardo obliged, cloaked in shame without his pants and shorts. He had no choice. His face burned, while his eyes circled the perimeter.

How could I not see six cruisers surround my car? He was the first to admit, though not openly, he’d been so caught up in the moment, he hadn’t been unaware of anything, but his orgasm.

Before Eduardo could muster any rational thoughts, the security guard scurried from his station and blurted to the closest officer, “Thank God, you’re here. I called 911.” Breathlessly, the man talked faster, “When this car pulled into my lot and nobody got out, right away I got suspicious.”

“Take it easy, buddy,” said the cop. “Slow down and breathe.”

The guard puffed, “I heard screaming, then noticed the chassis rocking back and forth. That’s when I saw him attacking the woman. That’s why I called 911, and reported an assault in progress.” The guard took a deep breath, moved to the other side of the cruiser and gasped, “He doesn’t have clothes on.”

“Right, Sherlock.” Motioning to the undressed woman in the car, the City of Miami policeman said, “Ma’am, get out of the car.”

Eduardo’s secretary shook her head. “No.” Her amber eyes widened in alarm.

“Are you all right, Ma’am?”

Still she shook her head.

“Wait, please let her be. This is a mistake. I’m a police officer.”

“We’re not talking to you. Keep your hands up.”

“Let me get my badge. It’s in my pants.”

“Keep your hands up.”

“Who do you think you’re talking to?”

“Listen, buddy, you’re the one not wearing pants, not me.”
